What's in a name?

Earlier this month, when I was on vacation in Seattle, my wife and I stopped into Nordstrom store #1. Since I first walked into a Nordstrom store about 6 or 7 years ago (we didn't have them in Miami back then, now we have 2) I always loved the place.

Anyway my wife and are browsing the flagship store and I notice the pretentious names that jeans manufacturers are using these days. Seven for all Mankind and Citizens of Humanity, just to name a couple.

What gives with these names? What ever happened to good old-fashioned and simple names like Wrangler and Levi's, even jeans named after designers like Calvin Klein?

Jeez!
