The Hangover
Well I don't know if it's tropical storm Ernesto or what but there definitely seems to be a sense of malaise coming from most of the Cuban-American blogs on my blogroll. The notable exception is Marc at Uncommon Sense who has been blogging up a storm lately (if you'll pardon the pun).
I guess that in the aftermath of the unprecedented announcement from Havana on July 31st that raul castro would be "temporarily" be taking power from his brother fidel and all of the speculation and hundreds of thousands of words that were written an read, that people are just waiting to see what happens next.
So I'm just here daydreaming about the day they make the next real big announcement, that fidel is stiffer than a 2x4. The celebrations you saw on 8th street on July 31st will be dwarfed by the outpouring of Cubans into the streets of Miami on that day in the not too distant future.
We always knew fidel would die someday. It just seemed that for many years it was wishful thinking that the day would be soon. Now it's obvious that the clock is ticking very loudly for the tyrant and his house of cards.
It's an exciting time to be an observer of history.
