Esperando

The first track (though not single) available from Estefan's soon to debut (and controversial) album "90 Millas" is available now on Itunes. The song is entitled "Esperando" and it is the anticipation of a free Cuba where all Cuban's can reunite and celebrate freedom. Thankfully, the song is santana free, and Nelson Gonzalez does a superb job on the Tres. Musically speaking my only complaint is the song is in an old and done style. Granted I can't expect a Cuban rock or hip-hop mix in this album, but there are always ways of making an old style fresh and appealing. Much of her songs in the album Alma Caribeña are great examples of reintroducing an old style of music. Perhaps I'm expecting too much? Perhaps I should wait for the album to come out?

Anyhow, I'll leave Estefan's words here to close: "Esperando (Cuando Cuba Sea Libre)" is probably one of the most personal songs from the new CD, '90 Millas' as it really speaks about the celebration, nostalgia and emotion that will happen the day Cuba is free. If we're to move forward in Cuba we really have to have a lot of forgiveness for each other and look towards the future." (top40-charts.com)
