Further reflections on Santana encounter

I've had a lot of time to reflect on my chance encounter with Carlos Santana last weekend.

I knew people would find it interesting but the response has beeen overwhelming. This blog got more visits today than any other day since I started contributing almost a year ago.

I do have some small regrets though. I regret that I didn't get a better picture. I stood there talking with the man for 3-4 minutes and I didn't think to hand my wife the camera to take a picture. The thing is that I was taken aback. When I stood in front of the window pointing at my Che's Dead T-shirt, I expected him to look up and then dismiss me after reading my shirt. I wasn't prepared to confront him. The other thing is that I wish I had is a way of replaying the conversation verbatim. Again if I had known I was going to talk to him I would have at least turned on the voice recorder on my cell phone. But all in all I think I held my own. My wife still can't believe what happened.

If there's an overall lesson that I learned it's one that I already knew was true but this serves as a reminder: celebrities, for the most part, don't know what the hell they are talking about. The scary thing is that in our increasingly celebrity-driven culture people give more and more credence to the public statements of idiots like Sean Penn, Harry Belafonte, Madonna, and others.

Fortunately, this medium of blogging exists. And the blog audience, people that don't accept the MSM's pre-chewed version of things, is growing.

Thanks to all that stopped by and I hope you come back. My partner, Songuacassal, and I have a lot to say.

Conductor,

Regardless of your afterthoughs, it seems that you got an opportunity to tell him like it is, an opportunity that put you in envious position. There is too much money to be made by being a lefty in Hollywood, and you cannot change idiots like that, but you can expose them. Hurt them in the pocket, when we can.

Conductor: Breaking update - confirming your reporting as accurate. Santana talked to a Chilean radio station the same space-case way he talked to you:
