Von Guevara

I was at Dairy Queen tonight with my wife. Apparently we weren't the only ones that had the idea of going for some Sunday night indulgence because the line was about about 10 persons deep. At the front of the line was Latin guy with his girlfriend. He was wearing one of those "Von Dutch" trucker caps that became real popular a couple of years ago. I began to wonder if he knew that Von Dutch was an insufferable drunk and a racist.

I wondered if he knew anything about that man who was born Kenneth Howard. And then it dawned on me, that hardly anybody knows. It's the same thing with all those Che Guevara t-shirts and apparel that you see everywhere. People that claim to be against capital punishment and for free speech wear the image of a sadist that enjoyed political executions and abhorred free speech. People who wear things that they know nothing about might as well be wearing a "kick me" sign, because just like the archetype of the school dunce these people are blissfully ignorant about what they are advertising.
